I just mounted up 15 inch TKO's on 33 in K2s today, and learned all about tire monitors.
Yes, the factory TIPMs will work an most all aftermarket rims. But, you do need to "kit them" when swapping over.
On my 2013 JK, you must replace the rubber stem thingie, as they pull through only once on a rim. Trying to redo them did not work for me (It tore).
So, I took my tires, rims, and all to Discount Tire. They mounted me all up, and put the "kit" on each monitor for about 10.00 apiece. Trust me, its worth it to go that route. I blew half a day at my service department trying to get my guys, who had not replaced jeep TIPMS before, but Nissans all day long. After work I loaded everything up and went to Discount.
Drove home on my 33s from there. And glad I did.
