Default Opinion DD 33 x 12.5 x 17

As I ready to order my tires as above I see slot of threads here on wide vs skinny tires.

I prefer the wide and was wondering if those more experienced could chime in.

Are these too wide for a DD that does 60 miles 5 days a week on the highway?

Is there a issue with wide tires tracking in ruts?

Four years ago I went from a civic to a stock jk with stock deulers...I recall some "getting use to" the steering..... Maybe this is the same kinda thing?

Anything else I missed?

Thanks all

Nope! no problem at all, I run 35x12.50r17s on my DD on the interstate everyday, roughly 60ish miles..

You may need spacers for you won't rub at full lock. Check this topic out may help you.

With proper backspacing, think around 4.5, u will stick out past the flares +1". If u have colored flares your back ones will stone chip really quick, black ones will be no problem. Will hydroplane a bit more on wet pavement and snow/slush. Quick stops on wet pavement could suffer a bit also.Run 33's with 4.5 bs 1.75 lift on my 09 sahara, drove fine for a DD. Didn't wander on the highway and rode nice with around 30psi. Changed back to stock for Canadian winters though.

I drive 100 miles a day minimum, running 35x12.5 on my dd and I have zero complaints, rides smooth, handles fantastic, heck I get better fuel economy with them than I did my stockers. (4.10 gears obviously)

When I bought my JKU new back in Dec of 08, I ran it for a couple of years w stock suspension, 17x9 whees w 4.5in BS, and Pro Comp 33x12.5 A/T's. Had no issues w rubbing but it did handle different due to the width. It would pull on uneven surfaces due to the extra contact patch of the tires. It was not bad. Just different and took some getting use to. I now have BFG KM2 M/T's in 305/70/R17 (34x12) but the contact patch (the tread width that actually makes contact w the pavement) on KM2's are much narrower than the overall tire width which is good. You get a wide tire that has better road manners due to design. Here's a pic of the tread width on my KM2's. The tread width is only 9in even though the overall width of the tire is 12in. If you want a wide tire w good road manners, I can't say enough good things about these tires. The closest size to 33x12.5 on a 17in wheel is 305/65/R17 (32.8x12.2).
