Default Expensive shocks or just buy OEM Rubi's

I am going in circles about buying some Fox 2.0's for my jeep. There are a lot if other mods I want and there's will set me back about $370. With a 14 month old jeep mod money comes real slow.

Wondering if I should just buy someone's Rubi red OEM's instead for 1/3 the price. And save the rest for a new steal bumper.

Is your jeep lifted at all? How many miles? At only 14 months old, I'm surprised if your stock shocks need replacing already.
You could go another route and get 4 Bilsteins for about $300, then put that extra $$ towards a bumper... or just get a new bumper and swap shocks later on.

40,000 miles on it, and I think with the extra weight of the Gobi rack their starting to go. Jeep is feeling like a boat at times and leans real bad around turns. I dunno? Should I skip the shocks then?

$370 for shocks isn't bad... That's about the price of ONE of mine.

I agree that the Bilsteins would be a better choice if you are trying to save money. They are great shocks.

The Rubi red shocks are an up grade from the black JK shocks. I would go with them and get the bumper. Wait until you do a lift then do shocks at the same time. IMO

I'm very content with my Fox 2.0 remote res shocks, they really shine offroad. If however you won't be doing much offroad, no lift etc, I'd for sure go with Bilstein 5100's. Affordable and perform great. My last set of shocks were 5100's and they were awesome all around shocks.

Uncle Pete says save some bucks and get a slightly used set of Rubi shocks for $100. Then put money you saved towards bumper.

Agree, I just swapped mine along with 19/60 springs and the ride greatly improved over stock. I'll save the big money and put it towards my lift down the road.

Either rubi reds of go all out in my opinion, I just installed fox 2.0 remote resi and I love them, I've had rubi reds and teraflex 9550s... Absolutely hated my 9550s. Point of the story... Rubis or fox/elka/king, don't settle in the middle because you'll end up wasting money eventually because you'll want to jump into the fox/elka/king range eventually
