2013 uconnect 430n stereo
Having problems connecting my iPod to the USB port . It's charging it but not reading it to play music. Anyone else having problems? Please help! Salesman that sold me the jeep said it should work he even showed me a another jeep that it does. The service dept says its not supposed to work. Any help please would be much appreciated
I have always used Bluetooth to use my iPhone. Just tried using the hardwire plugged into the console USB port, selected the media button the radio open a prompt box that stated "reading" then my music started to play.
USB port on the radio does not have the same function.

Yes, I have the 430n.
The actual iPod graphics are not displayed. It does list all of my songs and I am able to scroll and select from the radio or steering wheel.
Mine is a 2012 but I don't think anything changed.

On the 430N radio, the front USB connection does NOT support iPod/iPhone control/playback. To get this functionality with the 430N radio, the separate Uconnect module needs to be installed, where the Uconnect module has a USB connection, which connects to a USB adapter in the center console or the glove box. The front USB connector on the radio is for transferring music/pictures to the internal HDD and will also charge an iPod/iPhone device on the 430N radio.
On the 730N radio, this has a built in Uconnect module and you can plug an iPod/iPhone directly into the front USB connector and it supports iPod/iPhone control/playback.
That explains why the dealership is confused. They obviously don't know much about the differences of the radios and probably showed you it working on a 730N radio which looks similar but is in fact different.

Rednroll you should work for Jeep! Know one there knew what was going on. I spent some major coin (for me anyway) on this damn Rubicon and thought I was getting what I asked for. Mine doesn't have the extra USB in the center console and there telling me there not sure buying the uconnect thingy will work either. Any thoughts? I don't have a prob spending to get the uconnect but if it still doesn't work I will snap! So if the do instal the uconnect I can just put the USB hookup in my glove box? Sorry for all the questions
