I am interested in installing the Old Man Emu 2" lift on my 2 Door X. Who has it and what do you think of it? Northridge has it for approximately $650.00. Is it worth it?

 

I have the OME 2" lift on my unlimited, so I can't comment to much for the 2 dr. The kit only includes springs and shocks but the ride quality is great. I got a good bit more lift than 2" and I am waiting to see if the springs settle any before ordering a front track bar or upper control arms.

 

I understand the track bar, I put one on mine even though I'm not sure I needed it. Why the upper control arms?....Should I be looking at something I'm missing here?

Just to let you know, I have a 2 door and ended up with 2 3/4 inch lift after it settled....had closer to 3" at first but after about 500 miles and 2 trips off road, it settled. I have over 2000 on it now.

 

I really like my OME kit, still driving great (about 4000 miles). I have not done anything additional to mine, but added rear brake lines extension brackets. Absolutly worth it in my opinion...I have always got great service through David @ Northridge.

 

No. My steering is a little flightly at times. Depending on how much my springs settle I may have to make a caster adjustment. I have not gauged my caster angle as it is now though.

 

So all in all is this a kit you would recommend?

1> Would you recommend this kit and a 1" body lift for running 35s?

2> Which springs do you have.. the heavy duty or medium?

I think I will need the heavy duty for the eventual usage of my jk (expeditions in the Kalahari), but it is my daily driver right now...should I still get the heavy duty springs?

1. You may need a 1" BL to run 35s, but I am not planning on going that big. I think someone else is running 35s with just the OME.

2. If you have an Unlimited I would suggest the heavy duty springs. It might ride a little ruffer without any extra weight from after market bumpers and such, but I would suggest getting the heavy duty springs.

 

Any body with the 2dr's having issues with it before the springs settled? I.E. Drive shafts?


Also, if you were to make a full parts list for those of us looking at them, what should we add to the cart while buying the lift?

 

My suggestion is the OME kit with Front and Rear trackbars.

The OME kit has been giving anywhere from 4" to 2" of lift all depending on what your vehilce is equipped with.

Soft or hard top?
Spare tire?
Aftermarket bumpers or winch

it really all helps determine how much lift you will get.

What about brake line drop brackets as mentioned? Drive shafts?
