Default Duratrac vs. Terra Grappler

Im trying to decide what tire would be right for my 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport with the Teraflex Performance (1.5") Leveling Kit. Right now I've decided that I want a tire around the 33" area to go with my XD Addicts. Im trying to decide between a 285/70/17 (32.71) Duratrac and a 295/70/17 (33.26) Terra Grappler. I will be on road 95% of the time since this is my daily driver and I want to find a perfect mix of ride quality/quietness/looks.

I hear good things about the Duratracs. I had a set of 33" Nitto Terra Grappler's, they were a near perfect all terrain tire. Silent on road, very high mileage wear, do excellent in snow. A very quality A/T tire. Here's a couple pics of them in action awhile ago...

I'm in the exact same situation, I had Terra grapplers (295/70 17) on my f150 and loved them, but I love the more aggressive look of the duratracs. Terras at 295/70/17 are cheaper and larger, duratracs look better to me. I'll prob go Terra grapplers based on price and knowing they are a great tire already.

currently running trail grapplers...and absolutely love them. i wanted some road noise, but not as much as the mud grapplers that i owned on my previous ride. i do like the look of the duratrac, but the trail...not terra look IMO better then the duratracs.

regardless what you pick, make sure you post some pics!

I have had both tires but on my Toyota Tundra.. the Duratracs look better and have a good ride, but the Nittos are a little less noisy, handle better and ride smoother (they are less aggressive than the Duratracs so they should). I got about 40K out of the Duratracs...not too bad considering I tow with them sometimes but I did rotate them every 5K. I had the Nittos on my old Lincoln Navigator and got about 45K out of them (towing also)..and that was a much heavier vehicle. My Off road has been limited to dirt trails and sand, both tires worked well.

I can't speak to the Terra Grapplers since I haven't had them, but I'm very happy with my Duratracs so far on my JK.

I was pleasantly surprised with how quiet the Dura Trac was with how aggressive it is.

My buddy has Terra Grapplers and swears by them as well.

I had Good Year Dura-Tracs (285-70-17) when I first owned my Jeep. They were very quite on the road and did very well off road. Later as I lifted and built my Jeep I when with KM2's (35-12.50-17). These tires are great off road but not near as quite as the Good Year Dura-Trac. I wish GY made a true 35" Dura Trac, I would be running them. In fact, when these KM2's wear out (if they ever do) I'll proably switch back to Dura Tracs..I would buy Toyo Open Country MT, but they are just to heavy for my Jeep..Here is an old picture with the Dura Tracs..

I currently am running 285/70 Terra Grapplers and love them. I have a 2.5" lift waiting to go on, so today I ordered 315/70 DuraTracs. If the Nittos were available in that size I would have gladly gotten them again. I'll have my used set of 5 Terra Grapplers for sale soon.
