Default Dana 30, 35's, and a locker?

Hi. Hoping to do the rubicon this summer with a few guys from the norcal section and im just wanting to know if i can get away with a locker on my dana 30 with stock gears. Im only running 35s. Maybe even going to beef up the axles. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Default nah

Here are my thoughts; I sure would not. I have/had a Dana 30 with 35's and 4.88's no lockers. I was in the snow when I suffered my issue. Please see https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...sounds-257299/

Ive read that the problems happen when you regear because the ring and pinion are weaker since your sticking to the stock gears it should hold up for a while gets some chromo shafts gusset the c's and wheel it till it breaks lol

Default My bad

Yeah sorry I assumed you had regeared. I am not sure how you will make out I think like everything else it depends how you plan to drive it. Easy on the skinny pedal and you may survive I know personally now I am on the 'DO NOT INVEST IN A DANA 30' band wagon.

I've been running an ARB locker and 4:88's for 5 years now in my Dana 30. Broke one universal joint. IMO you are better off with the locker so that u don't get the wheel spin and then the sudden catch of traction which is the cause of most breakage.

Lockers are great and will take you places you never went before.

Expect to break parts.
