Default Off Road / Commuter Jeep - Opinions please

I have a 2012 wrangler sport unlimited with 3:21 gears auto, 2" Daystar puc lift, 1" 3/4 spacers , 33" Falkens. What is the best off road / commuter set up people are running for clearance, comfort, traction, and that thing called gas mileage?

I'M Looking for some flex, possible 35" tires, but save some gas mileage, is that possible?

33" tires if you dont plan on changing gears anytime soon. You will nost likely have rubbing issues if you dont buy rims or spacers for the stock rims. You jeep will drive like a 2 legged dog if you put 35" tires with you stock gears and you will have rubbing issues without a lift (or flat fenders) and you will need spacers for stock rims or get aftermarket rims with 4.5" BS or less (especially if you updrade your tie rod later).

33's for commuting purposes (I am going that route myself). IF you do plan on going to 35's, the 3.21 in the 12 and up are not bad (I have driven in them)......it is no where as bad as the 11s and prior.

Are you concerned about gas mileage?

I run 35's on my '13 JKU auto with 3.21's and it still has more than enough power to accelerate and pass on the freeway. I also commute about 25 miles round trip to work and am still averaging 18 mpg mixed driving. I tried to baby it on the last tank and got almost 19. It rarely gets past 20 on the highway, but it's doable.

Man...I wish I could get that! I get about 17ish now....maybe 19 with more highway driving on my stock setup.

OP - I would say stick to 33's if you are concerend about mileage, and do not go with a 4 inch lift.......maybe a 2.5 instead

I recently fitted a set of 33" Continental low rolling resistance tires on my 2012 JKUR and picked up a couple extra mpg. I have a 20 mile commute to my office and after a few road trips, I had stacked up 17,000 miles on my vehicle since I picked it up in August and I have a collection of motorcycles that I trailer so I got tired of eating up my stock mud tires on the road and getting wagged by the tail on uneven road surfaces. I have the LRR tires mounted on 20" SRT style wheels from Quadratec and stacked up my stock wheel set in the garage for weekend trail days. Used the AEV Procal to adjust for wheel diameter and have had no issues with rubbing or TPMS fitment in the new wheels.
