Default Backspacing confusion with 2.5 lift

Getting a 2.5 inch RC suspension lift done. I plan on running the stock 18 inch sahara wheels and tires for a brief period of time. Is there any issue with this?

I will then be replacing them with procomp 7089 (4.5 backspacing) with 305/70r16s. I believe there is then no issues with this setup.

I am just getting confused with the whole backspacing thing....and sounds like it only affects the stockers if I switch to a different tire.

thanks

That's my understanding as well. If you want to keep the stock Sahara wheels but go to a larger size tire (305- or 315-) you'll need spacers to correct for the stock wheel backspacing (which, without spacers, puts the inside wall of the larger size tire in contact with suspension components). But the stock wheel/tire combo will be fine with your lift.

And when you do switch to an aftermarket wheel as long as it has 4.5" BS or less (lower number) you'll be fine with bigger tire and clearance

The only possible issue I can think of is if you replace the rear sway bar links with longer ones. They COULD contact the tire if too long.
