Default Spider gear noise

My Differentials were demolished a while back after I sat in water for about 2 hours with a good half hour trying to get out. So...I had the gears replaced. The D44 spider gears had a small amount of backlash after the new ring and pinion install and since I was broke I opted out of any further gear repairs. Now the rear is becoming more noisy and occasional "clack" from the spider gears has turned into a "clackclackclack" almost every time I coast to a stop.

I had the transfer case fluid inspected and changed. I also had the transmission fluid checked for contamination. No one has found any issues.
All that being said, I keep hearing a slight whine from what sounds like the transmission on colder mornings but everything shifts fine.
I just need some comments and maybe reassurance that the transmission is probably ok. It only took about a month after the water incident for the differentials to go bad. That's when everything else was inspected. This was about 5-6 months ago. Also, is the noise I'm hearing normal with bad spider gears?
