Default Can you powdercoat?

On my last JK it seemed impossible to keep the underside clean. Like the Tie Rod, Track bar, etc... No matter what I did it never became clean. I was just wondering if I could powdercoat these parts, maybe a few others. Would that make it easier to keep looking good. I seen alot of differential covers done and I like the way it looks. I'm considering this because a shop I've contacted said the more I bring, the cheaper it'll be.

If anyone has done this, let me know if you like it. Show it off also

*Not that I wash the underside all the time, but when I take my time and clean the whole Jeep. I'd like to have the whole thing looking good. Not sure what it is but that always stands out to me.

Wear your bush pinstripes/damaged fender flares/manly looking undercarriage with pride It will get you the girl (or boy) of your dreams in a very short time. Stand with your chin up and arms crossed on your chest and be brave

Power wash it and maybe some degreaser then spray paint it all a black semi gloss.

I do this to try to hold off rust and it looks nice. I'm with you on wanting it to look good.

X2 on the black spray paint. It will help with rust and it will be easier to clean! I did mine and my underside is spotless kinda... I'll post pics later today

Years ago I powdercoated some suspension parts because I've seen how this particular brands "powdercoating" held up and did not last in the midwest. They parts came yellow so I had them burnt off and recoated with red. Coil springs, extended radius arms, lowering brackets. Held up for years the only place it came off is where my tires would rub. Other than that no chipping, flaking, no rust, held up to salt. It looked better than my Broncos paint job. It's a little pricey but worth it in my opinion. It would be more of a pain and time comsuming to constantly have to recuff, prime, and paint. Ill I ever had to do was wash it off when I washed my Bronco. Wish I had pics to show you but that was a few years ago. Highly recommend!

Yes you can have them powder coated , but just metal only I don't know what aftermarket or stock parts you have I know i wouldnt want powder coat a stock tie rod and I like color

I will say this save your money on powder coat and bedline them and them pick a color of paint you like

That's what I did here and it gives you texture

I agree. The gloss paint is best to use as it makes it more difficult for mud and debris to stick to components, it makes it much easier to spray off in the future.

I've only powder coated small parts so far, and when I pressure wash it, those little parts always seem to look the newest. I am a fan of powder coating and think it looks great. I've also painted and that didn't last nearly as long.. It started to flake after a while.

Was it easier to clean? I don't know if the stock factory stuff has a dirt magnet built in or what. Seems like everything sticks to it.
