Default Rr snorkel install sealent question

Hey guys I dropped my Jeep
Off at the body shop to fix a dent in the rear corner and the guys gonna install my snorkel as he's a pretty handy guy but he doesn't want to use rtv silicone in his shop as it often messes with the paint on other cars.

Anyone know of something not silicone based i can use instead?

Use what ever RR specs. Just tell your guy to wash his hands afterwards and his other vehicles should be fine.

I know. He even admitted to me that he probably sounded crazy.

Only RR doesn't have anything on the instructions but "clear silicone" ...I know rtv is most reccommended though just thought if check and see..

I worked at. a GM Assembly plant doing Safety for a while and there was a huge issue with Livestrong bracelets (Made of silicone) putting off some type of fume or gas that was causing issues with the paint.. Maybe that's what he's thinking of or trying to avoid.

Yeah he said that it gives off like fish eye type look to the paint. So he's looking for a sealant that isn't silicone based that will do the same job rtv will do.

I work in residential construction and often use LEXEL as substitute for silicone. It's not as easy to spread with your fingers (very sticky), but it lays a bead just the same. You may want to look into that as possible alternative.

Lexel® - The superior alternative to silicone.

Thanks man. That's great advise. I think I convinced him to take the part outside his shop to seal and then install later but if he hanged his mind ill point this stuff out to him
