Default Ace vs EVO Rock Rails

OK, aside from appearance, is there a difference in the protection afforded by the EVO vs Ace Weld-on rock rails?
I like the looks of the EVO and would go have them weld them on if cost were not a consideration. Ace rails are quite a bit less and many people report they are good stuff. I'd likely weld either one on myself.

Thanks for the feedback,

Brent

Not sure if you worded it wrong, or don't know....but the Ace ones are frame-bolt mounted, not weld on like the Evo ones. My Ace ones have served their purpose on many occassions, no complaints.

I'm pretty sure you can order them both ways.

Yes, I know NorthRidge sells them bolt on or a weld on version.

Guess that's a new option, I stand corrected. Anything welded on is always a positive side-note....

What sort of service have they seen and did you take any damage?
I am looking at gently bouncing off rocks to make my way through the Rubicon or similar trails. My Rubicon has the factory sliders, but I don't trust them and I am looking for something that protects the sides a bit and wont flex into the body.

Slid off rocks into them and no bending or denting. Slid across some boulders to say the least, just damage to the powder coat....oh well. Also pivoted around tree trunks with them.....slid right along 'em and got by unscathed. No damage a rattle can can't fix.

If you want the ultimate in strength go with the evo sliders. I have heard of ace deflecting or bending if pushed hard. For most im sure they are fine.
