Default Help selecting a lift kit

Me and the wife own 2010 JK 4 door. Whats a lift kit out there. I'm leaning towards the Full Traction kits.
Thanks
Mike

what size tire are you looking at and how high do you want to lift?

You can't go wrong with any of their lifts. What size of tires are you wanting to run? Also, what kind of wheeling are you planning on doing?

There is about 100 different answers to that question. It all depends on about 50 different things. What is right for u may not be right for me and vice versa. The best way to go about this is do a lot of research on this site... tire sizes, type of wheel in (if any), budget $$$$ (very important), daily driver?, etc., etc... there are hundreds of threads on these topics. Once you can answer those questions, post said answers back here and the fine people on these boards will be glad to assist you with their opinions and experiences.

Good Luck!

Well I see you did just that as I was typing....

If 35" are as big a tire you want to go, then a 2.5" lift is what you seek to keep the cost reasonable. Lifts over that point will involve more pieces due to the geometry changes of reduced wheelbase and higher drive shaft angles.

There are two YouTube vids by Teraflex that both of you should watch. One is about selecting a tire size, the other about lift hight.

Good luck.

I went with rough county 3.5 inch series 2 lift. Install was easy considering the instructions where kinda vague. Luckily I had lifted 3 jeeps before so I had an idea what to do. I went with rough county mostly cause of cost, I mean I just spend 36,500 on a fully loaded unlimited and then bought 2000 in tires and rims so I got lift performance stabizer and exhaust extension(you dont need for a 2010) shipped for $630 got 10% off on phone order). it flexes good so far and Ill get some disco's soon and as the jeep gets older and I care less about scratching it off road ill up grade to there long arm flex kit for another $1100. Its got heims joints front and rear track bars 2 inch arms ss brake lines etc. People have been sayin on hear that RC is cheap and blah blah but I tell you what there arms are way bigger and feel way more stout than the rubicon express short arm kit I installed. I wasnt impressed with the RE kit. I bought it for my dads jeep for christmas couple years back and it rode like shit and didnt flex, granted I didnt get flex series. thats my 2 cents anyways

The videos people post and the FAQ's in the sticky thread give you basics about what you may need but they do not talk about your specific needs or the many ways if doing it differently from buying a standard lift. For instance, the FAQ will say 4" lift for 37's. people with experience can help you fit 37's with a 2" lift. There are so many ways of lifting your vehicle and everyone has different needs and wants. Go read the posts in the trails section and see what people are running there. Ask people in your region what most run and why. Then you can make a better informed decision. By simply watching the TF videos (which have become the new "who can post the gear chart first" game apparently) you can easily end up with a lift that is not right for you

In short, ask questions and ask more questions. Otherwise, chances are you'll get it wrong the first time.

I have full traction 3" kit plus 1.75" front and .75 rear coil spacers because of the aev bumpers winch and evo skids. It rides well with the addition of 5100 Bilstien shocks.
