Default New gears for a JK

I have a 2012 2 door and just installed a 2" lift with mud terrain 35s and I'm running stock gears. Always grabbing 5th even on the highway. This car is my daily driver. Any recommendations out there to help improve and still keep my DD

Ok would running 4.88s for my six speed affect it a lot as a daily driver?

I run 4.56 in my 2012 JKU auto with 35" nitto trail grapplers 3.5" lift under skid system and heavy aev front and rear bumpers.. I get 14.5-15.5 mpg

4.88's should give you just about the same final gear ratio as my 4.56's and from my original 3.21's it is much nicer to ride on the hwy at 65-75 mph

one quick note, the bfg 35's you are running (reading your profile) tend to run closer to 33.5" tall. You will probably run a little higher rpm's than the chart because of this

With a 12 6speed daily driver and up to a 36 inch actual tire size I would do the 4.56 gear set. Automatic 4.88. That's my opinion. With true 37s I would step it up to 4.88 manual and 5.13 automatic. With 33.5 actual measured tires I think you will be to low with 4.88s with a 12 year model driving on the highway. I would. I have 4.88 in my 11 6 speed and it is perfect for me, but my jeep rarely sees the highway. 2 times a year. If it did I would have went with 4.56. With your engine and gearing 4.56 will be pretty low, but I wouldn't gear it at all if not stepping up a sizable amount. So 4.56 should make you happy any way you slice it

Sorry jlsjk you don't have a clue what your talking about

You have it wrong auto in 12-13's would have a higher gear not lower maybe you should look at the gear chart

6 speed would run 4.88's auto would run 4.56's
Or
6 speed 4.56 auto 4.10 if you never moved to a true 35

Your right I did right it backwards, I'm used to talking about the 3.8. But even with those numbers and rethinking it I probably would use the same gear ratio for auto and manual. 35s- 4.56 for both. That's just me. I drove a manual 12 model with 4.10s and 35s and it was great. My 11 model with 34.5 tires and 4.88s is low but I never get on the interstate. The 12 model with 4.10s is comparable and handled the 35s just fine. I think this guy with 33.5 tires and 4.88s driving on the highway a lot will wish he went with a taller gear set. I don't know?!?
