Default Jeep noises, new lift.

just installed a new budget lift with bilstein 5100s and aev control arm brackets.

ride is phenomenal and exactly what i wanted. very pleased with the lift...although

before the lift, coming from stock, my jeep would make noises, creaking and clanking in the front end dash and overhead area.

now that my stiff bilsteins are in.

i hear more and more creaks in the front end and now behind my head.
are there screws or bolts i can tighten, or parts i can insulate with rubber to help tighten things up?

where is the creaking coming from and has anyone silenced any of it? i dont mind, but all my passengers make comments

Are you sure it is suspension related? Do you have a hardtop? It sounds like you are describing several things.

not suspension related, but stiffer shocks make it seem like more of the same noises are appearing

Sounds like the hard top (If you have a hard top)...

Push from different angles and you'll find it. You may have a rubber gasket that didn't set properly when putting a freedom top on? Thats what happened to me.

If its not you hard top. Check your rollbar screws. They can loosen up over time.

what can i loosen or tighten in the front end, roll bar, and hardtop to look for any sounds. are there bolts that are not visible that are accessible to tighten under any dash plastic or trim. or just tthe two bolts on either side of the windshield?

I get a creaking sound from where the driver side roll bar and windshield attach. It seems to always creak and even more so when the Jeep flexes. I've removed the bolts and retightened over and over and even left one of the bolts out but it always comes back. Doesn't happen to the passenger side, only the driver side. May be I'll just weld the roll bar to the windshield frame and be done with it...

If what your describing is a popping type creaking...kinda like your being pelted with pea size gravel or hail, then check your freedom panels. There are two rather small eraser size rubber contact pads located on the bottom side of each panel. What happens is, those little pads get knocked off or crushed and then you get this strange noise, like what's being described and It's rather annoying. At least that's what my passengers would say. Just locate the damaged pad and replace with some similar type of rubber pad. You might have to improvise, but It's not that difficult. I found my rubber pad slightly moved off of center, so I just slid it back on point and re- glued it. Problem solved and the crazy popping noise is gone. Now if I can just weld that windshield frame and roll bar.......

I had a similar problem but not related to new suspension. Check and make sure the rubber stops on ur freedom top are still attached sometimes the fall off and metal to metal contact makes a horrible noise that I thought was suspension related cause every time I hit a bump I would hear this horrible creaking noise. That could be an easy fix if u have a hard top
