Default Hydro locked and in deep S... Need some help Fayetteville NC

Looking for advise and possible cost effective solutions. Just Hydro Locked my Jeep in a bloody kiddie puddle by the house (not even up to the axles). First estimate was 5k! Here is the bigger issue. Lost my job in Jan and just moved back to Fayetteville. Lost a job and marriage last year. This is the worst thing financially that could have happened for me right now. An at this moment I am seriously thinking of walking away from it Jeep I have had an enjoyed with my kids for the past 6 years.

What I guess I am looking for is places for a reasonable engine or type. My price given for the engine alone was $3,200. An maybe help to swap it out. I have no tools mine where stolen two years ago and live in an apt now in Fayetteville. I know from experience that this is a community that helps each other out. An to be honest with out going deep into the sob story I have nothing to lose from asking. Thank You.

Damn bro!! Feel for ya man! My advise is to keep looking for a replacment motor. From what I've heard the 3.8 (assuming that is the motor you need) is relatively cheap to come by. Places like Burnsville who do Hemi swaps may have some good running 3.8 laying around they would prolly be willing to sell cheap to get them out of their shop. Just an idea. Sorry couldn't help more

Do you have full coverage insurance on it? If so, they will likely cover the replacement engine.

Keep looking on CL and call all the offroad shops you think you can get to. Many do have 3.8's that you can buy. I've seen people buy used motors as low as $500 (high miles), but better than no motor.

Keep looking. It shouldn't be too hard to find a garage to commandeer for a little bit to do the swap. It's fairly simple, as you'll be undoing and rebolting all the same things.

Damn dude,

Sorry to hear of the misfortune, if you was in Texas I'd be able to sell you my engine and tranny out of my jeep. It's a 3.8L with 92,000 or so miles with no leaks and run like a mule. I did a hemi sway in DEC 12 and the engine and tranny is sitting in Lampasas, TX at my mechanic's (TXPro4x4) shop. Hell he may already have a buyer in line for it there if I'm not mistaken but I was only selling it for $1,000.00. Everything included. I'm just saying keep checking around and I'm sure you can find an engine and tranny cheap. Hell I got my hemi and tranny for $1,000.000 while I was in Oklahoma City in JUN 12.

Hey I'm also in near fayetteville, well actually Sanford. I hydrolocked my last jeep in the NTA areas just north of post, and called my insurance and they covered everything, it was on my 08 grand cherokee with the hemi, they ended up just totaling it, which allowed me to get my JK. Let me know if you need a hand with anything, I have a garage but will be leaving somewhere mid march, and won't be back for a while. If your insurance will not cover it, Try calling Get Ugly Customs, they are in raeford, and do a lot of jeep work. Also try performance 4x4, they are on Reilly.
