Default My Warn winch left me stranded but jeepers did not! ( another warn did free me! )

Well my warn x8000i after 16-17 years finally gave up bu at the worst time ( although I guess if you need your winch they are all bad times ) this past Thursday you may have seen my pleas for help on the forum as I was stuck seat high in frozen water which was a ridiculously bad move on my part ( wheeling alone, in the pine Barron's and not with all o my recovery gear in my jeep ) things I definitely know better than to do! Well at this point my winch decided to give up but since its 17 years old been on 4 jeeps and one pickup, abused ( but maintained ) along the way I guess I can be too upset.
After a few hours of futile attempts to release myself I put up a post here and messaged jersey_devil, who I had only met once before when I sold him a led light btw, within an hour and a half he came out by himself onto try and retrieve me. After negotiating to me he got me unstuck but I managed to find an even nastier hole on the way out which was too much or one jeep to handle an on top of it my jeep stalled because water got into my gas tank some how. At this point Steve (jersey_devil) an I decided all that could be done was tried to free it and he was running low on fuel. So we headed out of the trip where my ( unhappy) wife met me. On the way home ...9pm... Texts emails and phone calls started pouring in from jeepers near and far that wanted to help. I dropped my (now even more unhappy) wife and kids at home changed clothes grabbed what gear Gear i did not have in the jeep and headed back.

too make a long story short guys I had never meet before (jersey crew) drove from hours away to help me and worked all night long to free my jeep! It was not until 4am that the jeep was off the trail all thanks to a bunch of great guys and a working 9.2cti warn with a snatch block and his jeep anchored in the rear!

Anyway that's my story.........anyone know a warn rep who wants to give me a great deal on a Zeon 10 and takes old loved broken warns in on trade

I read along that night. And was hoping for the best couldn't do crap from here except send good vibes your way. I'm glad that there were true jeep friends that could get to you and get you and your jeep out.

I got them.....and needed them

This is what a f..situation looks like...you can't see in the pic but the driver side is submerged and in the rear the water is over the fuel cap....when it came out it was so cold I had a line of ice around the jeep at the waterline and when I was jacking up the rear in the water my hands kept freezing to the hilift handle.

Glad it worked out! I think winches are Warn's best product.

http://www.warnfactoryoutlet.com/Winches/ZEON-Winches/

Same group that owns Jee Add Ons. Don't let the URL name fool you. These are brand new winches that they stock in their Kentucky warehouse. Call them up and I can guarantee they will give you a better price then the one listed on their site. I bought a Warn 9.5CTI-S last summer for 1200.00 shipped plus a 100.00 mail in rebate. No other vendor on the forum could come close to that price.

Sorry to hear about the jeep, and seems your already on your way to repairing it. good luck

Had to bump this back to the top, this is one of the best things I've read in a while as far comradery goes.

way to go Jersey Crew...and I think, I would hold out for the bacon.

That was super nice of those guys to come help you. It definitely happened at a bad time, but 17 years is a very impressive lifespan. I do believe they still make all the parts for that winch, and it could probably be rebuilt.
