Default Just when I thought I knew which coil lift I wanted...

All,
After reading a ton, still looking for some help on choice for a lift. I have a 2012 JKUS and don't offroad much beyond light trails for camping, so I'm mostly looking for room to fit 35's. I do, however, plan to run aftermarket bumpers at some point(not immediately), so need to consider the weight.

From what I'm reading, if I plan to run bumpers, I should go with a coil lift rather than a budget boost. I don't mind the stock ride, so I was planning to run the TF 2.5 coil lift with factory shocks because it fits my needs and budget. I'm now reading some comments, however, that claim the linear coils in the TF will sag with the weight of bumper(s). Is that immediately, and can be corrected with additional spacers, or are people saying it does long-term damage to the springs and it can't be corrected?

A lot of posts say got with AEV for best on-road performance, and they have progressive springs, but that jumps me to $900 from the $500 TF kit. Is there a coils-only lift from AEV? Or what other options do you suggest? Another forum seems to favor RK over TF, but that puts me back at $800 if I get their coil + shock kit, in which case I might as well just go with AEV.

Thanks for your help,
Jason

I have run a teraflex lift on both my rigs. springs did settle from the original ride height. I just added spacers to the lift to put me close to where i was originally, and i added air lift bags to the rear coils to support the extra weight of camping gear, bikes and what not. My numbers are not exact but teraflex rep told be the spring settle a 1/2-1 inch per 150-200lbs added to the jeep. Dont hold me to those numbers but its in that range. Overall i have no complaints about my lift

My suggestion is get what you want, don't settle. Otherwise you'll end up spending more money to go back and redo things later on down the road.

I started out with a teraflex leveling kit and then went to the Teraflex 2.5 coil lift and i am very happy with mine.

Thanks guys. Biggest concern was the sag from added weight, but wasn't sure if it was a reality or a little bias from the other forum who prefers the RK lifts. Sounds like it may be more of a reality than I was hoping once I add bumpers, etc.

Anyone else with suggestions on progressive coil kit in the short term that I can add shocks later? Opinions on the RK or if a similar AEV kit exists?

My friend runs the 2.5TF on a JKU with heavy front and rear bumpers with a full 35" spare on the back. It sits noticeably lower than my 2.5RK but I have factory bumpers and no spare. It still runs 35s fine off road.

If you desire a higher look then RK2.5 would give an inch or so higher. 1" coil spacers can always be added either way with no real down sides.
