Bigger injectors for the 3.8
Hi !
I'd like to find slightly bigger injectors for my engine. Say 15% more.
I couldn't find any precise information about the OEM ones.
All the data I came across about OEM injectors - not confirmed - is :
- Rail fuel pressure : 58 psi
- Flow rate 250cc/min +- 24 lbs/hr
- ref : 04861667AA
- connector : EV6 (USCAR)
- impedance +- 12 Ohms
I would appreciate if someone had any more info and could confirm if the OEM are std 24lbs @ rated 43 psi,
or are flowing 24lbs @ the engine's actual fuel presure 58 psi..
Use of a calculator like this one would suggest the latter :

Am I correct assuming those would be what i'm looking for ?
Ford Racing 24lbs Injectors
If I'm right, 24lbs @ 43psi rated should translate to 27.7 lbs @ 58psi hence a 15% increase..
I also believe 4-hole nozzle would slightly improve mileage & torque :
1999 - 2004 Jeep Upgrade Fuel Injectors - YouTube
For those who wonder, I need the flow rate increase because I'm using E85 and sometimes get a "too lean" code because the LTFT reaches its maximum possible value around 25% where E85 needs a 30% increase.
I get E85 at about half the price of regular here in France.. And I love it !
I'd also like to try the swap for a viper throttle body and some minors intake/exhaust improvements and feel that bigger injectors would only be a step in the good direction.
What do you guys think ?

I don't know the answer but I think jon with RpmExtreme JEEP Performance will know
They sell the throttle body mod with a tune and do a wide range of performance related JK mods.
