Default Need a realistic direction with build im in a sticky situation.

Okay I here is my situation, I have a 2010 4 door with 3:73s. I have a 4" lift sitting at home, RE front DS with yoke, and new rims. I need new tires ASAP original tires are low on thread depth. My goal was to go with 35s, However I do not have 1000+ ATM to regear.
Now I do not wanna pee money down the drain. so here are a few Ideas I came up with but not certain how they would work. this is my DD 30 miles a day highway, And it will experience light wheeling. We will also be doing trips to our families cottage which is like 100 miles away. So freeway driving would be nice.

1) Install the lift, DS, and get some 35's and hope I can tolerate the LOST performance for about 9 months to a year. All the posts seem like your jeep becomes a slug and almost unusable.

2) Install the lift, DS, get 33s and run em, will help with performance but might look silly? but will be tolerable.

3) Sell the lift take a loss which i dont wanna do... get a BB with shocks and 33s

depends on how many hills your drive to work is. 15 miles to work is far but if its mostly flat and not in stop and go you might be okay with 3.73.

If you have a pretty flat drive to work with not many stops, once you get up to speed you will likely stay in 4th without much down shifting and can go ahead and run 35's.

Auto or manuel? If a manuel, you should be ok to run 35s on 3.73s. Its really not that bad. My buddy was running 35s on 3.21 gears a while back here in Colorado (lots of mountains and hills) and he was getting around ok. Ya the jeep didn't have the get up it once had but it was doable. And plus if you get a programmer that will help out more, especially if you have an auto. Get a programmer and reset your speedo and shift points and you should be able to stand the less power till you can get new gears.

My advice to you is, go with 35s. One thing I learned is your never going to be happy unless you bite the bullet and get what you want. If you go 33s your going to always wish you went 35s.

I mean 33s would look too small on a 4" lift anyway.

Just get the 35s, it would look good with your 4" lift. Get a programmer and your good. And to help out even more. Add a cold air intake and an exhaust for a little more HP. You can always find used 4.10 gears on CL for cheap man. And those are enough to run 35s.

I know it's hard to wait, but wait to install the lift until you have the cash to do it all at once. Don't waste money on 33s to get by.

I have been trying to wait as long as i can, however my current tires are approaching the end of their life, this winter was bad with the tires, they are not at the wear bars yet, but the PO of the jeep looks like they didnt properly rotate and are worn unevenly.

If you can try to keep your lift and just get some used tires for now you can look in the for sale section or at a local tire shop . but when it comes time to installing your lift and new tires run it you may not need gears I have an auto with 34 inch Toyo MT and I don't have a problem.good luck

Why don't you get take offs and run those for a while. They can be had pretty cheap. I got Rubi take offs and 4 dr springs for $1000.

I went to Discount Tires and got 0% interest for 12 month's for my 35's. That's better than the 9 month's you spoke of. Then put the cash into your gears.

I think you will be disappointed if you cut corners to avoid what you want. You have the lift. Get the 35's and a tuner for now and save for the regear. In the meantime, if its an automatic, just keep the overdrive off. It will be liveable.
