Default Questions about Mikey Thompson MTZ 33x12.50 R17

Ok just a few questions to anyone running these tires. Running them on an auto 3.73 gear 4 door with leveling kit how much of a loss in MPG and power are we talking about? What's an average tank of gas get in miles or KM's. Would Goodyear Duratrac's 285x70 R17 be a better choice for power and MPG or are the two pretty close? I am thinking one of those tires is where I am leaning. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

i currently have 35 mickey mtz and 3.73 auto. 17.5 mostly in town driving. i have had duratracs and they are also nice. either of these two top tier tires are marginally different. my only honest complaint on duratracs was the wear rate was a little fast...jury still out on mtz mickeys in that department.

I have had the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 33x12.50x17's for almost 2 years now. The handling on and off road is supurb. Any loss of power and/or MPG is worth it. These tires are amazing.

I get about 13-15 MPG as an average - at around 35 PSI.

Thanks guys but now to change it up would Duratracs 315/70R17's be the same as the MTZ as far as power loss and MPG because the weight of the tires is so close?

I HAPPEN TO CURRENTLY RUN BOTH THESE TIRES....... Summer I use the Mickey MTZ's winter I switch over to the Duratracs.
First off love my Mickey MTZ's great all around tire street and Offroad. Strong sidewalls unlike the Duratracs that's their weak point. But the Duratracs are great for winter driving. Fuel wise not a big difference between the two mind you not a fair comparison since we all lose mileage with the colder weather. Pics below Mickeys have the yellow beadlock rim the Duratracs on the black rim. If you're not worried about snow I'd go with the Mickey MTZ's..... of course you'll lose a bit of mileage but the look and tire is worth it!!!! Whoever bought a jeep for good fuel mileage anyways lol sorry no good close ups just iPhone pics.

Can I get away without regearing if I run the 315/70R17's? I really like that size and tire. Anyone running that size with 3.73 gears? Thanks

You could, but it will be pretty miserable with the 3.8 and four speed automatic. I wouldn't do if, but it's physically possible.
