Enlighten me... Lockers!
i own an 07 JKU-X. ive seen lockers on the trail and see the huge difference they make. im thinking about installing some in the next few weeks. questions are-
what lockers are of a better quality? (better to save and do it once then pay twice right?)
a buddy told me to avoid air lockers-whys that?
how intensive would this be as a DYI?
im hoping this thread catches on as a cure all for those in my situation that are looking for the same answers i am

ARB's air locker is actually the strongest selectable locker on the market so I am not sure why you were told to avoid it. This is what I would reco to anyone.
As to your question about this being a DIY install, setting up gears is very tricky and best left to those that do it regularly.

Im not sure why. Maybe because if the air line breaks or kinks you have no locker or if the air pump fails?

I installed my rear ARB myself. I just followed the instructions that came with the locker and have over 1K miles on it now with no problems so far. Granted it took me 2 days to get it set up properly (i took my time), I saved money from having a shop do it and now I know how to do it.
X's 3 on the ARB air lockers. The guys at Dynatrac use them on their PR 60's almost exclusively. If their strong enough for that,, they will handle your application without a problem. Two possible upgrades are the compressor and the braided air lines. Good luck with your decision.
The only reason to stay away from air lockers in offloading is cause there's more factors where your locker can fail- hoses, tank, tank motor... Bu other than that they're very good. Also Don't lock your Dana 30! If your regeared n locked, your going to shatter some teeth so much easier than a bigger ring n pinion.
I ran ARB's in both my rigs. 07 jk x with 35's (d30 front). 10 jkur with 37's. havent had any issues. I carry spare solenoids and a line repair kit just in case. From the research i did its the strongest selectable locker you can get. And the bonus is you can have onboard air with this setup up too.

Why the Anti- locking D30's....
you never hear about Other vehicles that have D30's that are locked having the probable problems that ppl always talk about with the JK's.... are D30's weaker than they have been in the past?
