Default 285/75-16 Duratracs?

Hello all, I am having a HELL of a time deciding on what wheels and tire size to upgrade my stock ones with... There are so many threads and so many opinions (some contradictory) I just want to but my scenario out there and see what you experienced Jeepers can help with! I have a 2013 JK Sport S w/ stock 17" alloys and 255/75r17 Goodyear SR-A... I want a more aggressive tire but my jeep is a DD, needs to be good on the highway for my commute and good in ice, snow, rain. I have pretty much decided on Goodyear Duratracs. I am not going to do any rock crawling and minimal offroad trails. I REALLY love the look of 33x12.5x15 Duratracs on 15" MB TKO wheels (w/ 3.75" bs) the problem is I live in Massachusetts and I know that this set up will extend past the fender flares about 2 inches and yearly inspections and the risk of getting a ticket is an issue. Discount tire said if I get 285/75-16 Duratracs and 16" MB TKO's with +18 offset (about 5.5" bs i think?) the tires would still be "33's" but would sit flush or slightly inside the flares and would not rub as the tires are thinner than the 33x12.5...and they would not rub at all on-road. only problem is this set up runs me like $200 more for these sizings (which is dumb, why do 15's with more rubber cost less??!)... That being said, i need som advice and guidance! will this set up suggested by DTD inside not exceed the flares? Does any one have photos of this? Will these tires look puny vs the 33x12.5? I pretty much want that look of those just a couple inches thinner so they sit flush and have no rubbing.. i like the diameter. I don't really want to look at 17" as I don't want the use my stock wheels and if I get aftermarket, the 17" duratracs are almost $300 a piece! stupid MA and their inspection/regulating pains in the arse!

Here you can see how far out they stick. I'd say 1/2" at best.

So those seem to be just and tall as 33x12.5 but just a tad thinner right? Do you have any rubbing or anything?

Mine are 285/75 16" on Black Rocks with 5" backspacing. They fit under the flare for inspection in PA.

No rubbing and advertised height is 32.8 and off the jeep mounted that is about right. on the jeep with 34psi about 32.25" actual.

Any reason you went with 285/75r16 and 16" wheels vs something like 33x12.5x15 and 15" wheels?

A lot of 15" wheels will rub the brake caliper, especially steel wheels. A handful of 15" aluminum wheels will clear. 16" wheels are easier to find to fit JK's with a large tire selection.

Here is my Jeep with similar sized 285/70/17 Duratracs on a 17x9 wheel with 4.75" backspacing at stock height. Most 16x8 wheels will have a 4.5" backspacing.
