Default VIAIR 400PA vs 450PA and lastly Smitty 5.65 CFM

I'm thinking of getting myself a portable air solution but can't decide on which one. I'm heading out to EJS with my buddy in a few weeks and need something for on the trail.

So far I'm thinking of a nice VIAIR solution but can't really decide if I need a model 400PA 33% duty or 450PA 100% duty. I'm looking to fill 4-8 tires from 10-15PSI up to ~30PSI but will the 400 do that without having to take a "break" where the 450 will power through? They look to have similar ratings as far as how quickly they fill a tire. Anyone have more info, like some real world feedback? The 450 is only about 50 bucks more, but is it overkill for what I need?

Also the Smitty seems similar to the 400PA, but 100 bucks cheaper. I'm not thinking I'll be disappointed with either of the VIAIR, but has anyone really used this model a lot? (more than a few times)

I've been looking at the same two pumps but the hard mount, Seems the 400 fills faster, but may need to rest. I am thinking the 450 is the way to go, rather have insurance then sit around waiting.

Thanks for the feedback on viair products. I think the smitty is too iffy to buy at this time if noone has any experience with it.

I went with the 400, not the portable unit, but still viair 400

Take a look at the jeepswagg deal in the vendor section. $199 for the 400H with a mount included. Add a hose and our at $230 shipped. A good deal

I have the Viair 400P. I use it all the time. So far I'm using it with 32's mostly. Now and then I fill up a buddy's jeep also 33's and it does 8 tires but does start to get fairly warm after 8 tires, not so bad after 4 tires. Although I'm happy with it I'd spend $50bucks more and get the 450PA if you have the cash, especially if you have bigger tires.

Thanks for feedback...
I'm thinking 400P-A now because I don't have time to install something else when I have a few other things needed first. If you look on VIAIR's site the 400 is a bit faster than the 450 and it sounds like it handles the job I need it to do. I'll look at the onboard option, but leaning towards portable.

I like the portable unit since you can take it anywhere. And I did help out another jeeper that required it to be portable, or a long ass hose. You can't go wrong.

I did just look at the JeepSwag kit and it looks pretty attractive too. I think I've narrowed my choice down to 400 under the hood version or the portable 400.

i just got the 400p yesterday and so far, trying it on a spare 35 on the back, it filled from 10 to 30lbs pretty quick! It was also a lot quieter than I imagined. Sorry I don't have experience with 450 model.
