What lift = best road handling?
Greetings all. New to the forum but not new to auto forums in general.
I just purchased a Sahara unlimited. I want to lift it straight away. Can any of you tell me if there are any 2.5 inch lift kits that sharpen (make better) onroad handling, lessen body roll?
It sounds like a stupid question because I know a lift is raising the CG, but I recall a buddys lift on his Nissan truck which improved his on-road cornering significantly.
I was considering this kit available at my buddys website, but I see they are only springs (no shocks).
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
Jules

I would get a 2.5 budget boost from teraflex and a nice set of shocks to go with it. I have heard good things about the shocks that are available with one of the versions of that kit.
First welcome to the site. Second, I don't have any first hand experience with SkyJacker, but people I've known to have them haven't been happy with them -- those were not the JK version though.
The best characteristics are going to come from the kits that provide new arms, track bars, etc. But, that kit does include new coils which most of the budget boosts don't so maybe you would get some improvement.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yeah the price is definitely right on the teraflex. This kit retains the stock springs though.
Are you saying that shocks are more likely to improve on road handling than springs?

I have a 2 inch lift with new shocks and springs. Rusty's Off road. It is as good as stock on the road. I can't say if it improved it but it certainly didn't worsen the on road ride. The off road ride is significantly improved however.

I am guessing your friends nissan had upgraded shocks so that would contribute to less body lean on cornering.
But it also makes for a harsher ride.
I have to agree with the others on the Tereflex kit.
I don't have it but it is probably the best for a quick lift for the time being until a more suitable true lift kit that everyone seems to agree on that is the one to get.
It will happen in time.

Seriously, they're okay with it usually as long as its just the text and not a direct link.

Sorry. I just wanted you all to see the kit.
