Default Old Emu vs rancho 9000xl

Has anyone used both?

Which will give the smoothest ride?

OMEs ride great - they're a big step up above the typical twin-tube hydraulic shock, without the ride penalty inherent to high-pressure monotube nitrogen shocks. OME puts a lot of work into tuning their shocks for each individual application.

Rancho RS9000XL shocks are also a big improvement over the older white-body RS9000s, not to mention most other twin-tube hydraulic shocks. The adjustable valving lets you set them however firm or soft YOU want them to be, instead of relying on the arbitrary decision of some shock engineer somewhere.

I just upgraded from Bilstein 5100s to Rancho RS9000XLs and the improvement in ride quality is night-and-day. The Ranchos on their stiffest setting ride like the Bilsteins do.

I think the OME's are a great choice and have had them on a previous Jeep. You cant go wrong with either... However, I just purchased the 9000's and love them not only for the improved ride, but they are far more versatile being able to change the settings. I change the settings often and have my own defined settings for towing or hauling bricks, commuting and offroad. Having dealt with Ranchos customer Service, that's a bonus also.

I switched from my current OME LT shocks to the 9000XLs only because they got bashed by rocks. Both shocks are similar but the OMEs, in my opinion, are better overall. The ranchos have to be on the lowest setting to ride like the OMEs. Less lean in corners with OMEs.

I went from stock to rancho 9000xl's so I can't compare to anything else but the adjustability is cool as hell.

If only had ,mine on for a couple days now and am still dialing in my favorite combo

Anybody have dampening issues with the 9000's ?

Tires seem to jump around at lower settings.
Seems to be getting worse.

I just bought a set of TF/Fox res shocks from a member on the site.
