Default Evo Rock Star Skids and uptravel????

I was wondering if anyone could answer my question. I was looking at the Evo rock star skids for the rear control arms and I like the idea of adding 1.5in of clearance. I am assuming this added clearance will come at a cost of up travel. Currently I'm running the JK 2.5"-4" Fox Shock Absorbers and I don't want to blow a shock out during the uptravel of the suspension. So I'm wondering if I would need to change out my shocks to a shorter shaft to run these skids?

Or you can add a bumpstop in the rear about 2" or so to compensate for the rockstar skids. This is the only reason i passed on the Rockstars and am now considering the rear control arm skid from Rebel Offroad. Theirs keeps the shocks in the same location.

You really just need to cycle the suspension and see if your shocks are bottoming out with the new skids. If so, you will need to add bumpstop length or get a shorter stroke shock.

How much lift do you have? If you are close to 4" you should be fine.

I'm running a 3in lift right now and I'm getting ready to swap out the bumpstops that came with my lift. I just ordered the TF 3" air bumps which will help but under hard compression I might still blow out a shock I think.

I've got these also and will be installing them soon. Good question. I was actually more concerned about the length of my brake lines... After you install them you may want to check that out also. I have the Teraflex 2 1/2 lift.
I guess there's a few things to look at...

I believe synergy makes an upper shock relocation bracket that moves the mount up and back a few inches.

I would install the skids first to see if actual need it.

Here are the brackets I mentioned in the last post.

Poly Performance JEEP/TRUCK & BUGGY :: Suspension :: Suspension & Lift Kits :: Jeep Suspension Systems :: 2007-Current Jeep JK Wrangler Suspension Systems :: Synergy Suspension :: Synergy Suspension Jeep JK Rear Long Travel Upper Shock Mount - 4X4 Of

This may be your solution if you have clearance issues.

It's not that I have clearance issues I just want to have more clearance. I looked at the Rebel offroad grinder mounts and I really like those and after looking at the Synergy link I think I'd like to run both of these together. Having a more robust skid on the low side with increased uptravel . With this set up I'd have to use limit straps to be safe. I'm already running extended brake lines so thats not a concern for me. Tiltz rre you running the Synergy set up? How hard was the install?

I haven't installed these. I have a bunch of other synergy stuff and the installs have always been straight forward following their directions.

I know a way to check if your shocks are bottoming out on bump or coming close anyway. It starts with an "r", has a "t" and an "i" in it and ends in ramp.

We can check tomorrow. If you still have an 1.5" of up travel on your shock then the relo brackets will be fine to install. If you are currently bottoming out the shock then you'll need bump stops, shorter shocks or the synergy kit like Tiltz suggested.
