HI I own a 05 TJ with 5.5 RockKrawler long arms and KING coilovers, built for extreme rock crawling, however i just brought home a new '13 Rubi JKU. I will build the new one a little different, I'm still going with a 4" LA ,possibly the BDS but with shocks not coilovers, and 37" tires, my question is can i run the 37s on the stock '13 honeycomb wheels without interference with the lift? Is there enough backspacing? can i go with a spidertrax spacer? I had to get 1.25" rear spacers for my TJ so the tires didnt hit the coilovers when deflated and full stuff. Thanks for the help.

 

You will need 1 1/2" spacers to use the factory wheels. And Spidertrax are a great choice, and what I use.

Thank you Ryan, 1.5 spiders it is, i will put the $1K of wheel cost to regear and use up the stock wheels, i see most cant give those away in the past.

 

depending on your tire choice then they may rub at full turn still even with spacers. Try and stick with a 12.5" wide tire and you should be good

 

I'd try 37's on your 4.10s (assuming you got that with your rubi) before you regear... i run 3.73 with 35's and don't feel any need to regear so you might be okay with the pentastar and 4.10 with 37's.

Also off road you have the 4:1 transfer case you will be fine offroad with the 4.10's and 37's

 

I agree. Several have been happy running 37's with 4.10's with the '12 and '13 models. I would drive it first, and go from there. Make sure to get a pro cal either way.

 

i might rec the bully dog over the procal for the rubi... if its as good as the spec sheet that bullydog lets you disconnect in 2wd and 4wh and gives you more control over your lockers. If I had a rubi I would have to give the bullydog a try.

 

I have a 2013 JKUR with 37's and 4.10's it is a little slower but it's not that bad at all.

 

I'm curious about the 37 v 35 question. How different stress wise and mileage wise would a light and small 37 be compared to an average or heavy 35? For example, how would 35" KM2s (34.8" dia/68lbs) compare to 37" BFG T/A KOs (36.3" dia/69lbs) in terms of stress, mileage, and how one might need to consider approaching a build. I know they are different beasts, but setting that aside for now.
