Default Expedition lift question

I am stock jkur as of now and have primarily done backcountry camping trips and don't plan to do rock crawling. I have been researching lifts and don't want to much of a lift largest would be 3.5 but that seems a little much for my use at this point, but I don't want to regret a 2.5 later. I have been considering either a metal cloak or rock crawler lift. Question is, is there a more appropriate complete system out there for an expedition style build. Any input is appreciated.

I have the Rough Country 3.5 with 35's on and I am going the expedition route. I think that it's a pretty good kit and so far I haven't had any issues. I'm very happy with the fact that I didn't spend an arm and a leg for the lift and the quality and customer service was great as well

IMO stay as stock as possible. 35's only require a leveling/lift kit stay 2.5-3" in front and 1.5-2" in rear. add a 1" body lift and better shocks and you'll have a solid performer. going any higher creates all kinds of problems you prob don't want to deal with on long remote journeys.

When you are talking leveling kit do you refer to a 2.5 suspension lift or just spacers for the body? Thank you for the replies.

I did the OME 2" for a friend and it was great. After adding a tent, awning, fridge, bumper and tire carrier, bicycles, and the rest, it got a little weighed down in the back. Talked to OME and they had some heavier duty coils than the standard heavy load spring, and they were just right. He's had no complaints and the price was more than fair.

I don't know that much about OME. How long has he had it on and what is durability like. Question / Clarification regarding the first reply. I was researching that lift but am concerned that it does not supply new and it adjustable control arms. I am not sure if this will be an issue changing the geometry of the jeep. ???

Couple of questions, what size tires are you going to run? What is the percentage of on road driving?

For the time being stock until they are shot. Then depending on clearance issues the max would be 35. As far as on road driving there is no way around it the wife has the car and this is my daily driver so no matter how you cut it 99% on the street with over landing on vacations. My last jeep was a 93 Cherokee sport and do not know if it will be worth it to go to 35s with the amount if over land I will be able to do. My main concern is that with front and rear bumpers and a rack system the stock springs will sag to much and I will lose full articulation especially once loaded down.

Yes both, it doesn't matter as long as it stays within factory spec, you'll be fine. a body lift added to a good suspension lift lets you get those big meats in there without throwing the geometry all off. each kit manufacture is different. you'll need to look into each kit some. if your always loaded stay in the high end to compensate for extra weight. if it's a real issue with droop, you can always add a $40 3/4" coil spacer later, to fix that.
