Hi All,

I recently purchased a TF Leveling kit as well as Rubicon Shocks and 18/59 springs. I was attempting to install this afternoon and had followed the write up on Project JK except when i got to removing the bolts on the shocks and sway bar links, the suckers won't budge. My jeep is a 2008 and there is quite a bit of rust that has developed, does anyone have any secrets for this? I'm afraid i'll be able to do one side and then not be able to loosen the bolts on the other side or on the back. I'm using a 24" breaker bar and I'm 6'1 190 lbs in good shape (just providing context) and i can't get the bar to budge. I assume that the bolts were put on with a pneumatic wrench and now they are rusted. Anywho, any help is appreciated!

Heat them up a bit then try.

 

PB blaster let sit on there for a little bit and retry.

^^^^ Combination of the two previous posts.... The heat will cause the metal expand. Then Spray with a Non-Flammable penetrating oil. As the metal cools the oil will be drawn into the smallest of spots... Hopefully to aid in breaking them free.

Can you gain access to an impact wrench? even some of the battery powered ones will make that whole job a sinch

 

When i first tried mine i had a breaker bar and all. Im the same size as you. I damn near shot my balls into my boots tryin to break them loose, grabbed an impact and it was easy as hell

 

I agree pb blaster or kroll and heat work great and another cool trick is if you are in a hurry and don't have any penetrating oil like pb or kroll is to take a torch and heat the nut up real good and then take a wax candle and touch it to the nut and bolt and it will wick in the threads. It works very well.

 

WD40 might help too.
