Default Rippin the foam out!

Has anyone here ever torn out the foam hunk on top drivers side valve cover? I was reading a challenger/charger forum and those guys rip em out. They say its bad for the drivers side head, too much heat. I can't tell what purpose this thing serves. If it servers none, why would they put them in?

noise reduction ? I know there are limits enacted by the fed concerning noise levels on automobiles. One thing is for sure, Chrysler would not spend 10 cents extra for anything that doesn't benefit them in some way.

Perhaps it is protecting something during manufacture

Point taken. But why would you only insulate for sound/heat only on the drivers side?

The foam is under the intake plenum. The intake plenum extends over only the driver's side.
My guess it they want to shield the intake from the heat of the head.
