Default Super dana 60 vs regular dana 60

I have purchased a super 60 and plan on putting 4.88 in when I find the right rear axle to match. That said, while I wait, a buddy of mine has a ring and pinion from a regular 60 that matches by rear dana 44 axle.

So my question is, can I put a regular dana 60 ring and pinion in my super 60. I don't want to order a bearing and shim kit if it won't work. Has anyone tried this before?

If memory serves me correctly, the Super60 has a 10in ring gear, while the regular was 9.75. I think that the 9.75 does work in the super, but not the other way.
