4.88 or 5.13
Which gears would you recommend? 4.88 or 5.13?
I have a 2010 JKU Sport with the 6 speed manual transmission that is my daily driver. I am getting 35" tires installed this afternoon and will be getting regeared next week but I can't make up my mind on which set to choose. I drive 60 miles a day but do have another vehicle to drive. I go to Uwharrie or another offroad park a couple of times a year and four wheel on the beach on a regular basis. I also will tow a small trailer (less than 2000 pounds) for 4-10 hour trips theough the Appalacian mountains.
Thanks

There's a chart floating around the forum for gearing. With 35s and more highway than trail, i would say stay in 4.56 / 4.88 range. Personally i would get 4.56, but others may disagree.
(This is all research based advice, haven't done it yet).

I was going to put 4.56s in my 2011 sport 2dr 6 speed with 33s and was talked into 4.88s by the shop that put them in. I like my 4.88s they work good on the trails 2nd and 3rd gears on green trail most of the time. The RPMs are high on the highway 2800 at 70MPH and I see anywhere from 15MPG everyday driving and 19MPG highway if I stay below 70. I will be going to 35s when I replace my tires I think this will be just fine for me. If you can afford it have the front axle sleeved and guested at the same time so you don't have to pay for the font end to be taken apart again. I hope this helps you
4.88 with 35's will run a bit high on rpm's on the highway and are a little better matched for 37's on a daily driver. If you have lots of hills to run or rarely drive over 60 mph the 4.88 will be a big boost in performance. Better on the trails too, you will be less likely to kill the motor doing slow technical climbs.
