Default Question about TPMS sensors and Discount Tire Direct

I'm looking at purchasing wheels/tires for my new 2013 Rubicon. I was wondering if I need to install TPMS sensors on this new set? Basically curious if the computer will have a hissy fit and set off dash lights and dings?

I don't run the tpms on my 33" tires , the dash light will be on all the time but no other effect on computer.

I plan on disabling my TPMS when i install new wheels and tires on my 2013. The shop has assured me that 2013 Procal module can accomplish this.

Just did it on my 2013 runicon and tire pressure flashes and reads no pressure in tires. Just get a pro cal module and turn it off.

X2 on the Procal. The new tires will probably be bigger too, so will need the Procal to do some other changes too.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Discount wouldn't install my new wheels without the sensors. Made it sound like a liability issue so I was on the hook for new sensors. Maybe it's just in AZ? I don't know, you might want to ask them if you even have the option. Good luck.

Edit: just noticed you said Discount Tire Direct, so maybe online is handled differently??

No problem having Discount Tire install my 35's without the TPMS sensors here. I did ask beforehand and they looked at me like I asked a stupid question.

The sensor rebuild you need is a vs-950 made by dill if you go through discount. I'm a discount tire tech in south eastern Michigan, if you take the wheels in we can rebuild them for you at about $5 a piece I do believe. Or you can buy them from us or the dealer and install yourself. A good tech knows how to break the top bead and install a 950 and air it back up the way it came in. TPMS is a great thing to have, if you've got a $300 tire and it goes down below the readings it'll send you a low signal and that let's you know " hey this tire is low, check it out before you run flat it and destroy it" I'd keep it

Go back there an slap them for me bunch of liars. While its required to have tpms after 2008 or newer vehicles it is NOT required to rebuild them. The customer is king at our stores, so what you want is what you get as long as its legal. A lot of our stores will say they require it bur thats complete BS, we cant make you buy ANYTHING! Make a note of the tech who told you that and get his ass burnt!!!!
