Default Body lift UNINSTALL question...

Hi all,

Took out a 2" body lift today that I'd been running for a few months...lots of reasons why.

Anyway, when putting the factory body mounts back in, 2 random mounts don't line up to the body and I can't thread the bolt through. It's odd because the ones around them line up fine. You'd think if there was a misalignment, it would be a whole side or at least 2 together.

Anyone have any thoughts?

well the two front mounts are different from the rest, I think they are upside down too.

Yeah no not that, those are fine. The long thread ones - specifically middle right and rear left just aren't lining up for some reason even though all 6 others are fine, including 2 front...

Was getting lots squeaking, got mud through gap into undercarriage, could feel top heavy pitch big time going around bends, made my 37s look small!

Thinking maybe I dropped the body back down unevenly...? But if so wouldn't none of the threads line up.

Wish there was a shop or some way to tell if the body settled down incorrectly.

Do it the same as a body lift install. One side at a time instead of front to back. Uninstall all the ones on one side, replace them, leave them somewhat loose, then move to the other side.

I did do one side at a time, but like you said, I'll try the whole process again. Never buying a BL kit again! lol

I'm also considering a body lift (most likely 1") and am curious about your statement of "got mud through gap into undercarriage". Would you give some additional information?

Thanks

Sure, so you are creating a gap between the body and the frame exposing area directly into your undercarriage, electronics, hoses, etc. Did some very light wheeling in some mud and found that the mud had sprayed and caked through this gap into all my wiring, brake lines, hoses, etc. Took forever with a powerwasher to get it out. Can't imagine this is good in the long run. I know there are gap guard covers, but I think they look even worse!
