rear diff fluid change
Changed rear diff fluid today and took a little under 2 quarts. I was expecting closer to 2.5. Stock diff cover on 07 rubi. Could it be because my lift has my axle at a little different angle? Thanks
Many lifted jeeps have there rear pinion adjusted up slightly to match the DS angle. I do. But I haven't heard of anyone being able to put in only 2 quarts of gear oil.
Jeep calls for 2 3/8's or 4.75 pints. You are quite a bit less than that. I would look into just how much your pinion is shifted up. Pic?

Sorry no pics. I would have to have the wife help. Im computer retarded. Im not impressed with the dealership here. I think I will try to figure the pinion out myself. Im sure I can find a post on how to set it.

The important thing is to have the oil high enough to get out to the axle bearings.
That means higher than the bottom of the axle tube.
Since you can't fill higher than the fill hole, you need to find out if the bottom of the fill hole is higher than the bottom of the inside of the axle tube.
If the hole is too low, you can get an aftermarket cover with the fill hole much higher. Then make a little dip stick to use when you refill the diff. Make sure the oil level is higher than the bottom of the axle tube.
