Default Largest size tires with out any lift.

I have recently gone on a spending spree with a few mods lately. The next ones on my list are a lift and some bigger tires.

Since money is a little tight for now, I would like to know what the biggest size tires I could get away with until i get a lift installed.
I have asked some of the local tire shops around my area and I get the feeling they have no clue as to what they are talking about so I would like to get some input for actual JK owners.

-Thanks.

Are you planning on wheeling? If you are, then stay stock for now until you can afford to lift it. A stock JK is plenty capable! I'm pretty sure there's a thread on this forum showcasing that. If not, than it's on a different forum (JF). This is the boat I'm in as well. I'm just gonna wheel stock until I can afford more toys

But if you're not wheeling, 33" is as big as you'll realistically want to go. Otherwise you'll be rubbing each time you take a tight turn

Thanks for the input. I do plan on going off road a little more eventually even though I do anyway with stock tires and no lift. I bought a winch before the lift and tires just so I can go into a little deeper stuff without fear of being completely stranded. (That has happened before). I probably have about 10,000 mi. left on my tires now so I will probably just wait until they are completely worn out that way I really have an excuse to get bigger tires and a lift.

You could get away with 35's as long as you go with aftermarket wheels with proper backspacing and don't flex at all. Throw a 2.5" lift later on and good to go.

You can wheel with 35's and no lift if you want. But that's where you need to have fun with a sawzall first! Happy cutting.

Throw this in to get you by cheap. When the springs sag out "if they do" put a better 2.5 coil in it and leave the 1.25 BL in.

if my memory serves me correctly, metalclock fenders allow you to somehow run up to 37s without a lift
