Default Heavy 35 vs Light 37 with 4.10 Pentastar

Hi,

Didnt want to jack any of the threads ive been reading so I am starting my own

I have a 2013 2dr JKR with Auto 4.10 (daily driver). I live in the city and doubt ill see much if any off-road use. Complete poser here

I am about to install a RK 2.5 lift with 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers. Before I do, i thought why not consider 37's. Would my 4.10 suffer too much even if i went with a lighter 37" tire (KM2 or MTR/K)? I just dont want to drop $5k and immediately wish i had 37s.

thanks,

Jamie

No issues.. Im running 37s pitbulls wich are super heavy with the 3.8l and stock 4.10.. Unless you'll be rock crawling.. Then u might consider 5.13 or 5.38 on a d60.. It depends what kind of wheeling you will be doing

youll be fine with 37's and 4.10's but I worry about 2.5 inch lift and 37's unless you flat fendering it

The 37" tire/ 4.10 gear combo is really good with the Pentastar and the auto compared to the old 3.8 motor and the 4 speed. I'd be more concerned about bending an axle tube or adding unwanted a little negative camber via a pothole with the stock axles. C Gussets and axle sleeves are a good idea with 37's even for a mall crawler. You can cut your factory flares to save a little cash and run a 2.5" or 3" kit with 37's.

It isn't so much the tire weight, but the overall diameter that affects the gearing. With the 4.10's and pentastar, it should be fine either way.

Thanks for the feedback fellas! I need to do some thinking and talk to the mechanic/installer. He may have already picked up the 35s. I would need to see abut swapping them for MTR/Ks.

I hate all this waiting and second guessing. I was kinda hoping someone would say just go with the 35s

Just put on the 35's There is that better :-) it'll look good with 35 really it will. 2 door 2.5 inch lift. Run it and next time get 37's if you think you need it. What ever you decide enjoy it
