The title pretty much says it all......... I'm new to the Jeep world so I am ignorant on this topic. Educate me please........ What is the purpose and what do I stand to gain by running wheel spacers?

Main reason for running spacers is to push your wheel/tire out more from the frame and suspension so you can run bigger tires Spacers are needed if the wheels you run don't provide the right backspacing. If the wheel sits in too much (for example the stock JK wheels) and you run a bigger tire, anytime you turn the tires, they will rub on various components under your jeep. Getting wheels with proper backspacing or using wheel spacers will push the wheel out more. So whenever you see a Jeep with the wheels sticking out from the fenders, its more than likely either done with wheel spacers or wheels with less backspacing than stock to avoid rubbing.

Or, some people just like the look and want a wider footprint on their rig and spacers will accomplish this as well.

I had to have them because the extended rear swaybar links that came with my lift rubbed the inside of the stock wheels. It does make it so the wheel wells look "fuller" if your still running stock/skinny tires.

I am still debating whether I will keep the stock wheels and spacers in the long run as they are so shallow that they are getting trashed. I like the look of the stock wheels so Im still on the fence about it but may eventually move to a different wheel without the spacers after I get bigger tires..
