Default Need more droop out of RK 3.5 lift

I just got back from moab for Easter and noticed that at full flex my front tire will not droop enough to touch the ground (Front sway bar completely disconnected). I think it will only droop only a few inches and looks like it should go much further. When I installed this lift just 2 months ago I remembered that with the new arms installed I went to bolt up the shocks (front axle off the ground, jeep supported from frame) I didnt have to compress the shock very much to bolt it in. I am running the RK 3.5 flex so i only have to two lower arms front and rear with the recommended bilstein 5100 shocks. On RKs web site it shows the recommended extended front shock length to be 29" but looking at the bilstein specs they are only 27.5" extended length. Could my problem be my shock length or will I get better results from adding front upper arms?

It has to be the shocks. I have the same problem with mine in the rear. 4 wheel parts recommended me getting 2-4". Not 4-6" like I should have.

Bump stop properly so they don't bottom out and get the Bilstein 5100 for 4-6"

Stock length control arms do nothing for articulation other then some using a better quality joint that does not bind like the factory bushing does.

Properly sizing shocks, shock mounts, bump stops, and fender openings will allow you to have increased articulation. Watch your down travel when installing a long travel shock you should at least add a limiting strap at the differential to prevent driveshaft damage.

Has anyone tried a shock extension like the ones teraflex sells for the budget boost kit.

Post up some photos of your entire shock and bump stops at ride height and I can give you some more direction on how to increase your travel.

What size tires are you running?

If you install a 3" lift kit with 3" of added bump stops and keep the factory shocks in the factory locations, you will loose 3" of down travel.

Up-Travel:
3" bumpstops would reduce 3" of up-travel. The main purpose of bump stops is to prevent bottoming out a longer shock on up-travel, and to reduce rub on fender flare.

Down-Travel:
Longer shocks will give you a longer down-travel. After some flex testing with a jack or RTI ramp, you can determine if you need limiting straps to reduce down travel based on radical suspension/driveline geometry.

no, on a 3" lift with 3" of added bump stops you would loose 3" of down travel with the factory shocks in the factory locations. Your suspension up travel would remain the same.

Does anyone know if bilstein makes a 5100 series shock for the front that is for a 6 inch lift?
