Default Teraflex spare extender with 35's

Installed the Teraflex spare extender today. I know it is only recommended for use with 33's but think there would still be this problem. It has a gap that I don't like. Is there anything to do to extend the plastic pieces that the spare usually sits on?

I'm going to eventually replace with the Tire Carrier just trying to make due until I can afford that.

Daystar has some bumpstop extenders. I wouldn't recommend leaving the spar hanging out there like that for long though.

That is hanging out way to far. Do you really need an extender for only a 33" tire???
