Default 35's so many questions...

/Jeep wave,

Been creeping this forum for years now, didn't want this to be my first post but it can't be helped

I've spent the last 3 weeks looking at tire, wheel and lift options trying to gather and digest as much information about it as possible and I'm starting to think that was a mistake. I want to upgrade to 35's... well I want 37's but that's a can of worms I don't want to open so... 35's,

1st question

I was looking at the terraflex 2.5" coil lift with shock adapters (I have 2010 JKU Rubicon), if I want the suspension geometry and highway driving to stay as close to stock as possible I would need the front and rear adjustable track bars and front control arm drop brackets (or adjustable lower control arms) correct?

2nd question

If i wanted to run stock ride height with 35's, assuming correct backspacing couldn't I just use bump stop extensions to limit the up travel ? If yes then proceed to question 3...

3rd question

Has anyone ran terraflex speed bumps (or similar product) with stock ride.

Thanks in advance!!

Just upgraded my 13. I ended up going with the TF 2.5" BB with shock adapters plus I added a 1.25" RC BL. You will not maintain factory ride height by adding the lift or even the 35's. if you want factory ride height and 35's you will need to lower, not lift. I did not use new track bars or adjustable LCA's, just used the TF rear track bar relocator. Ride is similar to stock, a slight bit stiffer, but still fine for me. A lot depends on what you want to do with the JKUR, keep researching to see if you can find your proposed setup and use

You don't "need" adjustable track bars with a 2.5. You can also just use the aev correction brackets for the front control arms- they bring the LCA's back to or close to stock angles. no need for new arms.

By stock ride height I'm guessing you mean no lift- if you get 35's you would probably want to trim your fenders or get aftermarket, if your going to off road it. Extended bump stops will save your springs but not necessary if just a street vehicle.

Speed bumps are best used if driving washboard back roads or sand dunes, my opinion.

Tell us what you really plan to use your jeep for and I am sure you will get some good recommendations. As you know though, there are so many different ways to modify - its what's right for your style of driving.

Thanks for the quick response,

It's my daily driver, I put on average 100km/60miles daily, 90 % on road use 10% off road. I don't rock crawl, mostly dirt trails, washboard roads and mud when ever I come across it I was sure I wanted the lift and 35's now I am concerned that the power loss going to 35's may be a problem for me. I thought with some extended stops proper back spacing I could keep the tires from hitting the fenders, I'll loose up travel but down should still be the same, and the jeeps I have seen online claiming to have 35's with no lift still look like they have some room in the wheel well. Reason being that if the power loose is a problem I can sell the tires and go back to a stock size, and I wouldn't want a lift on stock tires. I don't want to install a lift only to remove it in a few months. It's a 6 speed with 4.10's, it was painful to get used to the acceleration after having a 2006 xterra, but I love it .

Cheers!

I'm going through the same, but I already bought the 35" and immediately had to put (planned) on the Bushwacker fenders. Every little street bump I was hitting with the stock fenders. I had the 1" 1/4 body lift already on with my OE suspension and a 1" 3/4 front spring leveling spacer. I also added a 5/8 block to the rear bump stops. I really need to get new springs sometime soon

As for the power with 4:10's, got the Procal programmer and have had no issues with power. Took it out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and it did slow down a little. Tough grade for many vehicles..... We drive the JK all over and are pretty happy with it.

PS: Let us know what you decided

I would just do a spacer 2.5 lift with the 35's, no need for anything crazy since its your dd and you can still have fun with it offroad. Power loss won't be bad- especially if you stick with a lighter 35 like a duratrac/ Kelly safari or dynapro. I did it with 3.21's for quite a while and it was bearable.

On the other had, I ran 33's with stock height and then 2.5 lift and loved the look. It also provides a lot of room for articulation on the trail when needed.

2.5" Teraflex coil lift here w 33's. It's my daily driver. All stock control arms still. I think it's fine. I also think of 35's at times but am installing a winch instead. So far the 33's have taken me pretty well everywhere that I have the had the balls to point the jeep. Like the other poster said, 33's will give you really good articulation and no need to regear.

Ended up going with 2.5" aev lift with drop brackets, 17" xd addicts, 35" nitto trail grapplers, and teraflex tire carrier.
