Default Help: Any reason not to use wheel spacers?

4x4 shop recommended adding spacers. I have no rubbing issues but was told the wider stance would be good. Running 35" KM2s on a 2 door.

Thanks for any guidance.

I ran 33s and 1 1/2 inch spacers all winter. Now that I have put on my Procomp 35s, my front tires are rubbing on my front bumper.

It looks totally badass, and works well in the bush. I am just going to cut the back of the front bumper until I can get a new one.

Get them. You will like it.

Put 1.5" Spider Traxs on mine and it made a big difference. The way it looks and the way it feels on the road.

Only reason would be the national tire and lube chains will not do work when spacers are involved.

Not worth worrying about. Just do the work yourself or support your local 4x4 shop.

Increases bearing load cause you moving the mounting point out. That's why most tire places can't work on vehicles is spacers

Are you running 35" now with stock rims? Or you have rims with back spacing.

Not only the added stress on the bearings, there is additional stress on the inner C's that will cause them to bend more easily. Additionally, I knew someone that had his rear tire come off while he was driving down the road. He had the spacers torqued and used loctite on them but the same rear spacer came loose twice in a 6 month period. He found out that he had a bent flange from wheeling that was causing vibrations that loosened up the spacer.

Spacers work, but they take additional care to keep them working safely. If you don't need them, don't use them. Your best option if you have tire clearance issues is to get a different wheel with more backspacing (smaller number). The additional backspacing will still put stress on the inner C's and wheel bearings, but you won't have to worry about your tires coming off.

As long as they are Hubcentric and torqued you won't have a problem.

What are your state laws with regards to rires sticking out past the fenders? That could be a reason NOT to use spacers since they will push the tires out further.
