Default Anyone else having solenoid/other problems with Superwinch Talon?

Mine is basically new. Bought it off Amazon so don't know what kind of warranty. Too damn heavy to ship anyway. Doesn't work most of the time without banging on the solenoid with a mallet or whatever is handy. That will usually get it going, but not always. Pretty disappointed. The t-handle that you pull up and turn to engage/disengage got stuck the other day and it took me forever to get it loose.

Anyone dealt with their customer service lately?

Anyone switched out solenoids or whatever is causing them to stop working intermittently?

Thanks!

I have never had a problem with mine, but as stated, they do have a 3 year electrical warranty. I would just call them and see what they say. Hopefully they will take care of it, as these are very expensive winches.

Talked to Superwinch. They gave me an "RGA" number to send it in for warranty repair. That would be great if it wasn't going to cost me over $100 to ship it (the return shipping is on them if it's covered under warranty).

He also suggested I take the cover off the winch and check all the wiring connections. But when he heard about the T-handle sticking he suggested I send it in.

That's a lot of money to add on to the price of an expensive winch to have it repaired for "free". But since there's no service center nearby I'm pretty much stuck unless I can fix it.

Have you tried a local off road shop? Maybe they could at least diagnose it. I agree, having to remove the winch and spend money to ship it back isn't ideal. Do you know anyone local who could check it out?

Not really. I'll check the wiring first and go from there. 4WDparts is the closest shop that I can think of and I'm sure it won't be cheap based on my lift installation.

I have an older Superwinch EPi 9.0 on my LJ and had a similar problem with it, needing to be hit. took it a part tighten all the connections and it's worked great since.
