Default Can't get seat rail bolts out

I just got a Bestop passenger side underseat lockbox and it requires the two front bolts be removed to install the box... Well, I had read earlier somewhere on here, that they are torqued to some ungodly amount as well as loctite'd. So I decided to put a piece of pipe, probably a foot and a half long, around my socket wrench to get more torque on the bolts. Anyway, these things are so tight that my 18mm socket (the correct size) was stripping the head of the bolt. At this point, I don't know what to do to get them out... Any suggestions?

Yeah.... This brings back fond memories. I had the same issue, I sprayed copious amounts of break free on the bolts, and let them soak overnight. It made a huge difference.

I thought I was going to have to swallow my balls back down trying to get ours loose. They have a red thread-locker on them so some heat might help. I had to get the biggest bar that would fit in the space... (Custom made). I have a Tuffy Box, I only needed to remove the front two bolts, then My wife was able to get in the back seat and pull a bit on the seat back to lift the front enough for install it. I think my impact would have zipped them out fine, but it didn't fit well and my 1/2" wabulator is broke. Good Luck!

PB Blaster and a breaker bar did the trick for me. I'm removing all my rear seat bolts tomorrow, so I hope they come out without incident.

What I am using is basically the same thing as a breaker bar, just a cheaper alternative. Don't have an impact wrench but will get some pb blaster and try that

Used my 1/2 inch impact wrench to get mine loose the first time.

How did you get to the bolt to spray the PB Blaster?

This is even funnier when it applies, it did me, I know exactly what the phase means...

An open ended wrench slotted inside a large pipe, with plenty of muscle got mine free.

Just did the drivers side on mine today, WOW I had no idea they were torqued so tight. I used an 18 mm socket on a 1/2" driver ratchet with no luck until I searched the garage for a pipe. Found a 30" j-pipe I have for an HDTV antenna install I'll be doing... Someday. Anyway, stuck the straight end of the pipe over the ratchet handle, and both bolts came loose with that and a few good pulls, even if it was just 2-3 clicks at a time. One note, I had to take off the door strap (stuffed a down jacket between the jeep and the mirror to avoid a dimple) to get enough room for it to fit.

Hope that helps, good luck!
