Default manufacturer lift height vs real lift height

Is there any way I can measure my real lift height ?
Normally you measure middle of the wheel to a certain point at the fender before and after the lift.
But I never did it properly because ... well the car gets lifted a bit, itīs enough for 35" tires and I donīt care about the rest.
But now I need to know for some parts. Fox Shocks and speed bumps where there is no comment about the actual length. Itīs just a remark for the recommended lift height
I have the OME 2" lift kit. But...... the 2" OME kit is not the same then the 2" OME kit.
My JKU is almost 1" higher then the JKU from a buddy who has the same OME kit. Itīs only that he has soft springs and he got the higher spring rate.

Same with other spring kit. They say 3", 4" but if you have a JKU and bumper, winch and so on it really 1" less or so.

I wonder if you donīt have specific points where you can measure and look into a table and say.....ok mine is 2.8" lifted.
Like lower rear shock mount to a specific point at the frame.
Or lower front shock mount to...... whatever

If you're wanting to get measurements for new shocks you don't need to go by how much lift you have. You need to actually articulate the wheels up and down to figure out compression and travel to get the ideal shock length and bumpstop height. Once you figure that out, contact the supplier and tell them what your lengths are and they'll get you what fits.

This is what I did go to a Jeep dealership and measure the same model Jeep that you have from the inside the spring perch to the seat and then go do to your Jeep and it will give you how much difference of lift it is.

Iīm planning to get 35" tires in 2-3 month and Xenon flat fender are on the way. So I donīt think it would help to measure now.....

Yes. This should help.

But measuring your actual travel would be better for shock selection but it's a lot of work.

In Germany itīs all sold as OME 2-2.25" lift Kit. But you can choose the spring rat. There are 3 different spring rates.
So with on kit you can get many different lift heights front/rear.
And additionally you can add 1-2 trimpacker to gain another 3/4" if you like.
But for authorities and officially itīs all 2" lift kit.

Measuring random Jeeps isn't gonna work because the spring rates and vehicle weights very vehicle to vehicle too much to have a standard height. Shocks are usually sold for a range of heights say 0"-2", 2"-4" etc. so as long as the lift falls with in the range for the shocks purchased you should be good to go. The only way to tell exactly what you have would be to have a measurement before it was lifted and compare to the after height.

Thatīs cool.... Probably will help a lot.
Itīs not only for the shock selection. Also if I can fit in 3" speed bumps...... which is part of the shock selection.

Unfortunately some shocks have a gap between 2" lift and 3" lift. For instance King 2.5OEM. Also to see what OME really sold me.
Properly measuring the shock length would be the best, but right now Iīm just planning and just need approx. data to figure out what goes and what not.
Anyway Iīm limited to this magical 27" extended shock length where driveshaft issues start.
So if my JK is high enough and 16.?? shocks areīt to long itīs info enough for me.
And the answer to the actual lift or if the 3" speedbumps (Teraflex) will fit.

@ All
After 1 year of asking, thinking, looking at manufacturer websites I finally made up my mind about my future suspension.
I will order either Fox Factory adj. Res shocks and add Teraflex (or Fox/King) speed bumps, or 2.0 Fox bypass shocks.
Still some issues to think about but 30th of April I have to order........
