Default Warning - Rugged Ridge Tire carrier

I received the carrier as a xmas present to add to my Rugged Ridge rear bumper.

FYI, I have both front and rear RR bumpers and really like them.

The tire carrier however is a piece of junk. Problems started with the install and continued until I replaced the entire thing with a different brand and product.

Parts didn't align properly. I made modifications to temporarily solve the issues and in the meantime contacted RR for a new part. I was willing to pay but they said not to worry about it. Good on them right? Well they sent me the wrong part 3 times!! Never did get the correct one even after breaking it down with the PDF instructions in front of me.
It vibrated like crazy no matter how many or what adjustments I made.
Rust started dripping out of the pivot point early on. The bearings were all rusted to hell and started to impede the open/close of the carrier. The carrier had already been mounted to the pivot point and couldn't be removed, which created an entire different issue with install.

After the problems with install etc I looked up reviews and posts for the bumper and they generally weren't very good, wish I had done research before I got it. I had had enough problems with the product and customer service at RR so I contacted Quadratec and they replaced it for me no questions asked. Different brand, different product.

Bottom line the fit and finish of the Rugged Ridge Add-on tire carrier is pretty lousy. Customer service seemed eager to help but had a hard time doing it.
And Quadratec is awesome when it comes to customer service!

Just my 2 cents for the masses.

Agree 100%. The pivot point on mine was/is bent so the carrier does not close properly. Have to push down to latch. This after weight of tire.

Woah...I never had problems, even with the install. My rear bumper was a pain in the a** to install but the tire carrier was fine and I've had mine on for a year with no problems...

I do wish I bought a different one though. Just getting sick of the full width bumper look.

I'm not surprised. I have their half doors which are also substandard. They sent me a new front set on warranty but they're marginally better than the first set. (Still hard to get them to latch). The service rep was great to talk to, the product is crap. Someone else once said and I'll quote "Rugged Ridge is the Wallmart of Jeep parts".

Huh... I love my carrier.... Only problem is the one pin broke to the handle after almost three years of beating on it.... Squeaks a bit but it's nothing a lil grease won't handle.... I am thinking of switching to evo carrier tho but not sure.... If this stuff starts going bad on mine then I'll replace it

My Shittybilt does the same, but I got used to it.
