Default AEV 4.5 inch SC w/35's sensitive steering

Steering has become flighty or overly sensitive. I have done some research and seems to me that it is a caster issue.

Is this correct and will I need to take it to a offroad shop for a fix or can someone like discount tire take care of it. Thanks

AEV lifts are hardly ever described as having poor steering. Did you do the install yourself? Or did a shop do it? I have read before of shops not installing the control arm drop brackets. If you did it yourself, did you install the the control arm's in the proper bracket hole? There are three, and I believe the highest one is for the 4.5" kit (not 100% on that). You are right, its most defiantly a caster issue, but its strange for AEV lifts to have poor caster so I would assume there is a problem with the install.

Let us know what it ends up being. If everything was installed correctly I guess you can take it to a good alignment shop that has knowledge of lifted vehicles/jeeps and get them to printout their findings and contact AEV, show them the printout and describe the driving characteristics and I am sure they will come up with a course of action for you.

In any case. Report back

Yeah I have been extremely happy with it...it was a proffessional install that was done a while back. which makes me think something has got out of line.

Check and make sure they used the correct holes on the Drop Brackets (There are 3 to choose from). You can go on AEV's site and see the schematic on what hole is suppsoed to be used for your lift. If theres a problem with it being flighty, this is probably it.

If its was fine initially, I think you are probably looking at a bolt that came loose or a worn out component. Have you jacked it up and checked your ball joints?

Can I see pics of your rig? I'm debating 4.5 versus 3.5. I have 315/75/16's and was curious about what the 4.5 looks like with 35's

Steering box needs reinforced. Watch it flex on the frame while a buddy wiggles the wheel with jeep running.

Here ya go these are from my phone so not good quality. Let me know if ya want some better ones.

I am planning on adding front and rear bumber with winch so that should bring it down a little. Plus if I ever want to go with 37's I am set!

I am enjoying the 35's and don't see myself upgrading anytime soon.

That looks awesome! I love the side rails too, those steps would keep the Missus from complaining its too hard to get into, who makes it?
