European spec unlimited axle ratios
Hi guys,
We have recently aquired our first wrangler , having just sold a 500 hp f150 lightning it of course feels slightly sluggish
However we still love it, as it will be my wife's daily driven car we went for the 2010, 2.8 crd diesel variant it's called an ultimate over here which means it was the very last of the prefacelifted versions, came with leather , 18" wheels and 32" tyres , mygig and infinity subwoofer.
I have already done a budget boost to help its looks and am looking at a set of wheels and 33" tyres , my question is how do I find the stock axle ratio? I think it may be quite different to the petrol versions due to the torque from the diesel.
The very current models have a 3:21 or 3:73 , I'm sure some of this stuff was changed from our model due to emissions etc and Im worried it will massively affect its performance and economy by fitting a taller tyre, although at the moment with 32's it flies along
Any help would be most appreciated.

you can try looking at the gear chart on this page. with tire size and speed being the known variables, the RPM should be close enough to the gear ratio for you to deduce the gears.

Not sure how it in the UK, but in the Netherlands it's on my (dmv)'registration. I have the 2.8 diesel and run 35" just fine (although i have to admit that they have tickled the engine a bit to approx 230 bhp / 500 Nm).

My bad...I mean 4th (over drive) for a 2010 auto. RPM in US would be the same as PRMs in Europe, I suspect.
